Craft Union Pub Co invests £650k in four Plymouth pubs

Craft Union Pub Company, part of Ei Managed Operations, and one of the group’s directly managed house businesses, has invested £650k across four pubs in the Plymouth area to rejuvenate the offer for the local community.

The move clearly demonstrates Craft Union’s ongoing commitment to investing and regenerating pubs for local communities across the UK. The investment has tastefully renovated the pubs in line with their original features, including extensive interior and exterior works to improve the quality of the proposition.

A total of £650k has been invested locally across Plymouth at the Cherry Tree, Pennycross, Kings Head, Plymouth, Newmarket Inn and the Post Office, Plympton.

Craft Union’s philosophy is about developing quality pubs in the heart of local communities. The offer is straightforward; drinks-led with quality beers at affordable prices, alongside a comprehensive sports and entertainment offer in well-invested community pubs.

While the company’s roots started in the North of England, it has quickly become a nationwide operator, after successfully implementing a move further south, clearly demonstrated by these latest investments, and now has a strong foothold in London, Midlands, South West and the South Coast.

Frazer Grimbleby, Operations Director, Craft Union Pub Company, said, “The Craft Union model puts great quality pubs back in the heart of local communities by reinvigorating them with targeted investment that enhances the original features of the pub and improves the overall customer experience.

“We’re delighted to breathe new life into pubs in the Plymouth area. The move clearly demonstrates the successful implementation of our strategy to increase our presence across the country and bring quality, great value, customer experiences for communities across the country.

“The operator is the most important part of our business and making sure that we have the right local person to operate the pub is an essential part of our model. With the extensive support we provide them as they practice their craft of running outstanding pubs, alongside the investment and expertise in areas such as sports viewing, quality interiors and affordable value-led drinks, we’re confident these pubs in Plymouth will continue to thrive.”

The operators from each of the Craft Union Pubs in Plymouth have come from the local community. In addition, Sean Clarke, who previously operated the Cherry Tree, Penycross, was recently appointed as the Area Manager for Plymouth, clearly demonstrating the company’s commitment to investing in and developing talent from the local community.
