Boparan calls in KPMG to evaluate future of Giraffe & Eds Easy Diner

Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG has brought in advisory firm, KPMG to investigate a range of options for its restaurant chains, Giraffe and Ed's Easy Diner.

A BRG spokesman stated, “BRG operates a portfolio of restaurant brands most of which are trading well despite some of the most difficult trading conditions seen in the UK for some time.

“Whilst we have some star brands, we have one or two that are performing less well. We are therefore looking at a number of options and have hired KPMG to advise.”

These options are thought to include site disposals or possibly a potential sale of the 44-site Giraffe and 24-site Ed's Easy Diner brands.

BRG, a subsidiary of Boparan Holdings, owns a number of key brands including fish ad chip chain, Harry Ramsden, and the fine dining Cinnamon Collection. The group is also the master franchisee for US brand Slim Chickens, which launched in the UK last year, and has just opened ne new outlet in London's Soho.

Having acquired Giraffe from Tesco in 2016, BRG then bought Ed's Easy Diner in a pre-pack administration in that year.

The most recent financial results for both chains combined show an annual turnover of £67.1m, but also underlying losses of £1.6m.
