Details revealed for Taste of London 2019

From 19 to 23 June, Taste of London will celebrate the great and the good from London’s internationally renowned restaurant scene in Regent’s Park.

For five days, the people and places that have propelled London’s culinary landscape into the global limelight will take part in a series of exclusive dining experiences, masterclasses and cook up a menu of never seen before dishes.

The festival will be centred around a ‘Wild in the City’ theme, exploring concepts including sustainability and championing craftsmanship in food, drink, atmosphere and music in an urban environment. Alongside appearances from some of the UK’s brightest stars, winners and judges from the inaugural edition of The World Restaurant Awards, which took place in Paris earlier this year, will be in attendance.

The Residence
Wolfgat, the 20-capacity South African beachside cottage, which received global attention after being crowned ‘Restaurant of the Year’ at The World Restaurant Awards 2019, will showcase its unique dining experience in partnership with Zacapa Rum.

Exclusive to Taste of London, The Residence presented by Zacapa Rum will allow guests the chance to experience the critically acclaimed cooking of Kobus van der Merwe without taking the 12-hour trip to the remote fishing village Paternoster in South Africa or having to brave the restaurant’s three-month waiting list.

The Wild Kitchen
Taking inspiration from this year’s theme, River Cottage’s Steven Lamb will be on site in a transformed shepherd’s hut, hosting masterclasses alongside the River Cottage team. The award-winning author, TV presenter and curing & smoking expert is the linchpin of everything the acclaimed River Cottage does, and he will be imparting his years of expertise with guests through a series of workshops.

Located a stone’s throw away, Luke Farrell, the chef responsible for growing some of the most exotic Thai herbs in his greenhouse in Dorset, and supplying some of London’s best Thai restaurants, will be on hand to educate Londoners on the art of growing in an urban environment.

The Fire Pit
Hosted once again by the inimitable DJ BBQ, a rotation of demonstrations and residencies from the chefs from some of London’s most legendary meaty restaurants will be running at The Fire Pit throughout the five-day festival, offering guests the chance to refine their cooking skills and sample unique dishes exclusive to Taste of London.

Resident chefs from Roth Bar and Grill, Berber & Q and Rovi will be on site creating trademark dishes, plus an appearance from Santiago Lastra, the ex-Noma chef set to open his new concept KOL in London later this year.

Drinks
A selection of the world’s biggest brands, including Champagne Laurent-Perrier and Tanqueray No.TEN, will be on site with bespoke experiences for ticket holders. This year will see the Laurent-Perrier Masterclass championing the excitement and innovation of London’s Street Food scene, as it partners with Bob’s Lobster, Pizza Pilgrims, Hotbox, Santo Remedio and Yum Bun to bring Taste visitors irresistible food pairings to enjoy alongside the iconic Laurent-Perrier Cuve´e Rose´.

Food
With over 100 dishes to try from the pioneers of London’s multicultural restaurant scene, guests can experience a true taste of the city - with flavours from new restaurants such as Brigadiers, Berenjak, Kym’s, and Chotto Matte, Taste of London promises to be the ultimate celebration of the capital’s culinary scene. Full line up to be released soon.

Cecile Rebbot, Event Director, said, “For the last seventeen years we have loved celebrating the innovation, creativity and talent from London’s restaurant scene, and we’re thrilled to be adding an international angle this year by giving visitors the chance to experience and rub shoulder with global culinary stars from The World Restaurant Awards.”
