Dishoom Covent Garden set for 10th birthday redesign

The team behind much-loved Bombay cafe´, Dishoom, are able to confirm that their original Covent Garden restaurant will undergo a major redesign ahead of their 10th anniversary celebrations next year.

Opened in July 2010, Dishoom Covent Garden was the first attempt to capture the wistful poetry of the old Irani cafe´s of Bombay, drawing design inspiration from beloved Bombay institutions such as Britannia & Co., Olympia Coffee House and Kyani & Co.

A decade on, the restaurant is to be completely transformed in partnership with its long-term creative partners, Macaulay Sinclair, the architecture and design studio behind Dishoom King’s Cross, Carnaby, Kensington, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Together they will deepen the narrative for Dishoom Covent Garden (current design pictured), undertaking numerous design trips to Bombay in the coming months to find inspiration and unearth new stories to share. The process will also see a significant expansion of the site into the neighbouring unit at 11 Upper St Martin’s Lane.

The increased footprint will allow the team to be even more ambitious with the proposed 10th anniversary design plans, making Dishoom Covent Garden a truly special space from which to deliver their menu of much-loved Bombay comfort food and drinks.

Further details about the Dishoom Covent Garden redesign, including the new story that will guide the design and creative narrative of the cafe´, will be released later this year.
