Pride of Britain Hotels has announced that Grantley Hall in North Yorkshire, has become the latest independently-owned hotel to join the UK’s 50-strong luxury hotel collection.
Set in formal gardens and parkland, Grantley Hall is a striking 17th century Georgian mansion with 47 rooms and suites, which has benefitted from an extensive four-year renovation. Situated close to the Cathedral city of Ripon and the Yorkshire Dales, Grantley Hall has hosted royalty, celebrities, socialites and soldiers during its colourful history.
The hotel’s flagship restaurant, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, has already received rave reviews for its delicious cuisine. Shaun has honed his skills over the last 20 years with stints at The Mayfair Hotel, Bohemia and Omer (in Jersey and Mayfair). Many of the dishes’ ingredients are sourced locally or at the hotel itself; seafood and organic meat is from the Yorkshire coast and local farms, and vegetables are grown in the hotel’s Kitchen Garden.
Aside from the flagship restaurant, there are several other food and drink options. Bar & Restaurant EightyEight offers a unique fusion of Yorkshire and Asian cuisine, plus a varied cocktail menu, and overlooks an ornamental Japanese Garden.
For breakfast, lunch and dinner, Fletchers is overseen by Head Chef, Craig Atchinson and serves British and European cuisine with a parkland view. Both restaurants are open daily. Afternoon tea is served daily from 2-5pm at various locations around the hotel, including the Neoclassical Georgian Drawing Room.
For drinks, Norton Bar and Courtyard is an opulent oak-panelled space with an extensive list of classic cocktails, whisky and spirits as well as a British bistro-style food. For a sophisticated nightcap, Valeria’s is the hotel’s glamorous late-night Champagne bar and opens on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Grantley Hall’s Three Graces Spa includes an impressive 18-metre marble-lined indoor swimming pool, an indoor-to-outdoor hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and snow room. The spa has a varied treatment menu using ila and Natura Bissé products. The Three Graces Spa Lounge serves a light menu of nourishing juices, refreshing salads and indulgent desserts.
Ideal for active guests, the ELITE luxury gym and executive wellness area houses a state-of-the-art hotel gym, plus a strength and conditioning gym, spinning, Pilates and yoga studio, cryotherapy chamber, electro-muscular stimulation training, altitude training and sleeping facilities, underwater treadmill and even 3D body scanners.

Grantley Hall joins an established collection of some of the finest hotels across the UK, from historic castles to boutique boltholes, each of which is dedicated to providing the finest hospitality to its guests. The self-imposed limit of 50 members ensures that each hotel is of the finest quality and maintains the exclusivity of the group.
Grantley Hall has replaced the Farncombe Estate, which left the collection in June 2019.
