Cairn Group shortlisted in Hotel Cateys

Cairn Group, which has a diverse portfolio of bars, restaurants and hotels across the country, has been shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category at the Hotel Cateys 2019, in recognition of its implementation of Access Procure Wizard, part of the influential Access Hospitality brand.

The family-run business owns and operates 33 premium hotels and 28 bars and restaurants, each with its own identity and character but with one common thread; to continually strive to deliver experiences guests love.

To achieve the high levels of consistent service, no matter what style or what location the venue trades in, the group selected Access Procure Wizard as its online procurement tool, giving more control from purchase to payment.

“We’re a forward-looking company that embraces technology” explained Richard Warren, Finance Director of Cairn Group “so we’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for a Hotel Cateys Award. We recognise the need to use technology to make us more efficient, improve our financial performance and enhance the experience of our team and Access Procure Wizard has helped us achieve these aims.'

Warren continued, “The system streamlines procurement, reduces indirect spend and automates invoice processing, giving us full visibility of our day to day spending and allowing us to track supplier and site spend in real time.

'The visibility and control over expenditure and supplier relationships has proved to be second to none, delivering tangible savings to our bottom line and has given the team the scope and freedom to spend time on making a real difference for the benefit of our customers.”

The group is also aware of its impact on the environment and has calculated that Access Procure Wizard has saved around 150,000 paper invoices which would have otherwise passed through their Head Office in the last 12 months. That’s roughly 19 trees saved by cutting back on paper consumption every year. Taking away 150,000 physical invoices has also saved time equating to 5000 working hours, or 625 working days or a whopping 125 working weeks.

Henry Seddon, Managing Director of Access Hospitality, said, “As Cairn Group prides itself on offering tailor-made, bespoke solutions for their guests, so we were able to tailor the functionality of Access Procure Wizard directly to their needs, ensuring it integrated easily with their existing accounts package.

“They have made it central to many aspects of their operating processes and it has had an impact on both financial and customer service to revolutionise their business. It been a pleasure to work with the team at Cairn Group as their commitment to customer service and employee engagement has been an inspiration and they’ve embraced the technology of Access Procure Wizard to great effect.”

“We work with suppliers who share our vision and who recognise that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not compatible with building a business in a service industry” concluded Richard Warren. “In Access Procure Wizard, we have found a technology partner that exceeds our expectations and goes the extra mile to make sure that we have a system which enables us to deliver exceptional customer service, delivered by a motivated and enthusiastic workforce. I’m thrilled, therefore, that the combination has resulted in being shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category at the Hotel Cateys 2019 and look forward to the awards evening.”

The Hotel Cateys were launched in 2007 and celebrate the most successful hotels, hoteliers and hotel employees across the UK. The winners will be announced at an awards evening on 22nd November at The Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge Hotel in London.
