Major refurb begins on first Bike & Boot hotel

Bike and Boot Inns Ltd is starting the work on The Mount Hotel in Scarborough, which it acquired in January, and will become the company's first Bike & Boot hotel.

The five-storey, 50-bed hotel will be completely overhauled and revitalised by Infiniti Roofing & Construction across a six-month period. The refurbishment involves installation of high-end bathrooms with new showers and toilets, including fresh carpets and decor in all 65 rooms.

A new in-house cinema will be added, along with improvements to the bar, restaurant, and kitchen areas. There will also be a dog and boot wash and E-bike charging stations.

Bike and Boot Inns is led by industry specialists, Simon Kershaw and Simon Rhatigan (pictured centre with Infiniti bosses). Kershaw said, “Our intention is to roll out the brand, initially across the North of England in key leisure and tourist locations, such as coastal towns and national parks.

'Our target client base is the short break market but with facilities for cyclist, walkers, dog owners and those who simply enjoy some of the most beautiful areas in the country.

'We are very excited to be launching this new hotel concept and feel this beautiful site in Scarborough is the ideal location to get started. Our hope is that Bike & Boot will offer a unique escape for not only tourists, but also for locals who might wish to visit the restaurant or cinema'.

The hotel enjoys a prominent elevated position in the town centre, overlooking the Rotunda Museum and with views across the iconic Spa Bridge. It's also close to a range of local attractions including the beach, the Stephen Joseph Theatre, the famous South Cliff Funicular Railway and The Spa events venue.
