Kettle launches vegan crisps to meet demand

Cheese & Onion is an iconic flavour combination and a firm favourite for Brits across the nation. Although a perfect pairing, it doesn’t meet all dietary requirements, so to meet popular demand, Kettle Chips, has developed a delicious vegan alternative.

Kettle Chips’ brand-new seasoning – Vegan Sheese & Red Onion - was developed by the brand’s Innovation Chef, Phil Hovey, alongside expert vegan chefs, Bosh!.

This new edition features vegan ‘Red Leicester-style’ from popular brand, Sheese, one of the best vegan cheese-alternatives on the market. Sheese does not contain any artificial ingredients and is produced in a completely vegan factory. It’s strong-tasting flavour profile works perfectly with the sweet red onion seasoning, making Sheese & Red Onion the perfect vegan alternative to this much-loved seasoning.

Launching in time for Veganuary, the new SKU will be available in Asda, Budgens and Londis stores across the nation from the start of January, followed by Tesco and Morrison’s at the end of the month.

Hovey said, “More and more people across are adopting a vegan diet – between 2014 and 2018* the number of vegans in Great Britain quadrupled – and at Kettle we’re always looking for ways to bring our flavour combinations to everyone, regardless of their dietary requirements.

“Who better to team up with to develop this recipe then the guys from BOSH!, who are all about great tasting vegan food without compromise. It was brilliant working with them to develop our Sheese & Red Onion variety and we can’t wait for everyone, vegan or not, to try this exciting new addition to our growing vegan portfolio.”

Henry Firth and Ian Theasby, the duo behind Bosh!, said, “Working with Phil and the Kettle team to create this exciting new flavour combination has been great fun. We really wanted to work with the Sheese brand as their natural products not only taste great, but offer a fantastic, un-processed alternative, to real cheese.”

Zoe West, Corporate Outreach Manager at Veganuary, said, “Veganuary offers those looking to try a vegan diet a go a great platform to do so within a community atmosphere. Each year, we are seeing more and more people sign up to Veganuary, whether it's to help animals, do their bit for the planet or just as a challenge.

'It’s great to see iconic and well-loved brands such as Kettle help extend their product range to offer those looking to change their diet even more options – especially when it’s in the shape of crisps!”?
