Fenchurch Restaurant reopens with new head chef

Premium hospitality collection, Rhubarb has announced the appointment of Michael Carr as Head Chef of Fenchurch Restaurant, Sky Garden’s contemporary British fine-dining restaurant, reopening on 4 September.

Carr has a wealth of experience in fine-dining with a focus on modern British dishes. Joining from the then Michelin-starred The Box Tree in North Yorkshire where he served as Head Chef and Manager, the 2019 Great British Menu contestant has developed new modern British menus for the restaurant’s reopening.

Prior to The Box Tree, Carr spent a number of years as proprietor and Head Chef of Restaurant92 in Harrogate and has also worked at Gordon Ramsay Group and Northcote Manor. He was part of the team that gained a Michelin-star at Driftwood Hotel in Cornwall; and has also worked alongside Alyn Williams at The Westbury supporting the achievement and maintenance of the restaurant’s Michelin star.

Carr commented, “I am delighted to be joining the rhubarb team and to be working at Fenchurch after what has been a very difficult few months for the hospitality industry. My focus has always been on championing seasonal British produce to create new and exciting dishes and I am looking forward to bringing my signature style to Fenchurch.”

Sebastian Grygier, Director of Sky Garden, said, “We are very excited to have Michael on board. With his impressive experience leading a team and overseeing a restaurant, he will be in supporting Fenchurch as it gets up and running again. His creative new menus are sure to delight diners.”

As part of Sky Garden’s commitment to get Londoners back out to eat, Fenchurch will be extending the EOHO with 50% off (up to £10 per person) for lunch and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays throughout September. Darwin Brasserie on level 36 of Sky Garden will also offer diners £10 off per person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
