The Sea, The Sea to open second site in August

Chelsea’s The Sea, The Sea, the seafood bar, delicatessen, and fishmonger brand, is set to open a sister site under the arches in Haggerston, Hackney, East London next month, a little later than first planned.

According to founder Alex Hunter, the plan is to make the place something between an “art installation, restaurant, laboratory and factory”.

Like the Chelsea outlet, the new spot will offer fish bought directly from boats in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset.

The Sea, The Sea will not only be using the catch in dishes and the fish shop, but it will also be a processing centre for wholesale, supplying many other London restaurants.

Like the Chelsea venue, the team will also be dry-ageing fish and all this will be reflected in the menu.

Diners can expect dishes such as: Steamed prawns, lemon & almond aioli; Caviar, egg yolk sauce, shallot & waffle; Dressed crab with crispy braised kombu, and Cured mackerel with tomato pine infusion.

The new The Sea, The Sea will also house an immersive dining counter, led by executive chef Leo Carreira, which will launch in September.
