BaxterStorey CEO says Truss must act now to tackle rising costs

With the announcement of Liz Truss being elected as the new Conservative Party leader, Ronan Harte, CEO of catering group, BaxterStorey, has made comment.

Ronan (pictured) said, “The top priority for Liz Truss and her new Government must be to tackle the cost-of-living crisis. It touches every industry in every corner of the UK, and the hospitality sector is no exception.

'Our industry is amongst the largest employer in the UK and a failure to act quickly and decisively will lead to irreparable damage for hard working business owners, particularly SMEs, suppliers and independently run businesses within the sector.

“From field to fork, escalating costs are impacting every part of the supply chain and the support needed to withstand these costs and staff shortages is comparable with the depths of the pandemic – it is time for Truss to act, and to do so quickly.”

BaxterStorey is the UK’s largest independent caterer, operating in 625 locations across the UK, Ireland, and Europe, specialising in in-house hospitality for a variety of clients across sectors including retail, banking, and manufacturing.
