Theresa Collins appointed as general manager of The Star by the Polizzi Collection

Theresa Collins has been appointed as the general manager of The Star, Alfriston, located in East Sussex, a property within the Polizzi Collection.

Her most recent position was as the general manager at Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire, a role she assumed in March of the previous year.

Before her role at Glenapp Castle, she served as the deputy general manager at Cliveden House in Berkshire and as the hotel manager at the Royal Horseguards Hotel on London's Embankment.

Hotelier Olga Polizzi, who holds the positions of deputy chairman and director of design at Rocco Forte Hotels, founded The Polizzi Collection. She played a pivotal role in collaborating with her brother, Sir Rocco Forte, to establish Rocco Forte Hotels.

The portfolio of The Polizzi Collection encompasses notable properties such as Hotel Tresanton in St Mawes, Cornwall; Hotel Endsleigh, located near Tavistock, Devon; and The Star in Alfriston, East Sussex, a property acquired by the Collection in October 2019.

The acquisition also marked a significant milestone as it was the first time that Polizzi collaborated with her daughter, Alex, renowned as Channel 5's Hotel Inspector.

At a point in the past, the Star was under the ownership of Polizzi's father, Lord Charles Forte, as part of the Forte Group's Heritage Collection.

Alex Polizzi, director of the Polizzi Collection, said: 'We are pleased to welcome Theresa to the Star, joining us as general manager. We are sure she will be a great addition to the team.

Collins added: 'After a successful time at Glenapp Castle, I am excited about this new challenge. I have long admired the Polizzi family and their three hotels in the South of England. I look forward to joining the team at the Star and supporting Olga and Alex Polizzi in the running of this beautiful property in the South Downs National Park.'

The 37-room Grade II-listed hotel, with a history dating back to the 13th century, underwent a substantial renovation in 2020. It successfully reopened its doors in June 2021.
