A new Dobbies garden centre is opening today in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, complete with a 500-seat restaurant which is a joint development between the garden centre and its owner Tesco which is also opening a site next door.
Employing 130 members of staff, the £8m garden centre is located on the Hardwick Industrial Estate and takes the Dobbies estate to 34 sites.
Of the 130 staff, 90 of these are employed within the restaurant. With seating for 500 diners, there is an additional 100 seats on the patio and 70 in the café.
This is the first time that the two companies will have a combined superstore and garden centre in the UK. Tesco is therefore closing its current supermarket in King’s Lynn to move to this new site.
