Sunderland City Council and Seaham Marina are to invest £2m in new watersport facilities and other coastal amenities, with the creation of 100 jobs.
Sunderland City Council has received £540k from the Government’s Coastal Communities Fund to set up a year-round programme of events and attractions at the seafront to attract more visitors and improve infrastructure and training for businesses.
Seaham Marina has also scooped £1.7m to continue ongoing regeneration work, including new watersport facilities and 23 new boatyard berths, as well as improved access to the beach and other amenities, creating 70 jobs
