Siglion, a new joint venture company between Sunderland City Council and Carillion Developments, has unveiled proposals to invest an initial £100m in the redevelopment of key areas in the city, including the 26-acre former Vaux Brewery.
A mix of residential and retail development is proposed for a 10-acre Seaburn site – described as a “fantastic playground” – while the Chapel Garth site close to Doxford International Business Park is planned to host a “village centre” with housing.
As part of work, which could take up to 20 years, Carillion will also develop areas of Farringdon Row, Holmeside and parts of the East End.
