New attraction set for Welsh heritage park in 2017

An exciting new simulator ride is set to open at Rhondda Heritage Park in the New Year, enhancing the already popular Black Gold Experience.

As part of the Council's major investment in the tourist attraction, the brand-new family ride will transport visitors through the 'underground tunnels' at the former Lewis Merthyr Colliery with the use of modern, state-of-the-art technology.

This announcement is the latest attraction to be added to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council as part of its on-going £0.5m revamp.

Also now open at Rhondda Heritage Park is Caffe Bracchi, celebrating the Italian communities who came to set up business in the South Wales Valleys at the turn of the 20 Century. Many of these Italian cafes and fish and chip shops still exist to this day.

The new Italian-style eatery forms part of the Council’s major investment at Rhondda Heritage Park, helping to re-establish it as a key Valleys’ family tourist attraction.

Caffe Bracchi, situated on the ground floor of the park, serves up both Welsh and Italian cuisine through the day.

A new public exhibition commemorating the once-thriving coal industry and the Rhondda Valley is also now open.

Thousands of people have been flocking to Rhondda Heritage Park during the festive season to pick up their seasonal gifts and trees and to take a trip to Santa's Toy Mine.
