Copenhagen-based Italian restaurant launches in UK at Battersea Power Station

Copenhagen-based Italian restaurant, Mother, has just opened its first UK branch in the Battersea Power Station redevelopment.

Mother London is open in the Circus West Village, which is the new food and drink area at Battersea Power Station.

The pizza bases are made from sourdough and seawater, which makes the bases lighter. All the pizzas are baked in wood-fired ovens.

There are meaty or veggie toppings like Pizza Carminucco with tomato, parmesan, pecornio cheese, basil, pepper and bigoncia ham, and Zuccone - smoked salmon, chives & cougette.

There are salads such as Romain Salad - spinach, cherry tomatoes, strawberries, parmesan and buffalo mozzarella, as well as small dishes like Pizza Fritta con polpette e scagile di parmigiano - fried pizza dough served with meatballs and shaved parmesan, plus antipasto platters.

A range of pasta plates include Tagliatelle All Abruzzese - fresh pasta with pancetta & fresh tomatoes, served with pecorino cheeseas well as other Italian dishes like Gnocchi with gorgonzola & walnuts.

Desserts like tiramisu and chocolate fondant complete the meal, and there are other sweet treats for coffee breaks, like muffins.

For beverages, there are a range of craft beers, Italian wine and organic coffee.
