Bird House London Announces New Venue and Taproom: Bird House Brewery Arrives in Herne Hill – launching 28th March

Bird House London, the London based hospitality group that founded leading neighbourhood drinking and dining venues The Hawk’s Nest and Peckham Arches, has announced the launch of its latest venue and taproom, Bird House Brewery in Herne Hill, opening Thursday 28th March.

Located in Arch 1127 on Bath Factory Estate, adjacent to Brockwell Park, the craft brewery will include a tap room inside the arch that will brew the group’s own house lager and pale ale. Created by Brewmaster Will Hiscocks, the lager and pale ale will be a focus-point of the drinks menu and will be distributed and served at all Bird House London’s venues: The Hawk’s Nest, Peckham Arches and Skylarking. There will also be a range of seasonal and special craft beers brewed on site including a White IPA and Amber Lager.

With a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, the brewery bar will boast relaxed seating for 200 guests, with 50-covers inside the arch, as well as outdoor seating for 150. Alongside the house lager and pale ale, the drinks menu will also include an array of signature cocktails and wine, with a converted horsebox parked outside the arch serving smash burgers, Wednesday – Sunday.

Frazer Timmerman, Co-Founder of Bird House London adds: “We are delighted to open our fourth neighbourhood venue, Bird House Brewery in Herne Hill. Like our other venues, central to the offering will be an affordable range of cocktails and street food in a plant filled setting with lots of live entertainment and events to engage with our local community.

The venue lies on the site of the former Canopy Brew Co which was much loved by residents of Herne Hill, and we are pleased to have been able to have kept craft brewing alive in the area amongst wide spread brewery closures across London and the UK.

We have expanded and improved the on-site taproom and invested into the brewery facilities. Our intention is to initially distribute the beers we brew to our own bars as well as through the on-site taproom. In Will Hiscocks, we have a talented and ambitious young brewer and we are excited by the opportunities this presents to our growing bar business.”

Will Hiscoks, Brewmaster of Bird House Brewery adds: “It's such an honour to be bringing my own beers to London, a city so steeped in brewing history! I look forward to continuing Canopy's footsteps in brewing new and interesting beers for the local community and can't wait to see where this journey leads us!”

Founded in 2019 by Frazer Timmerman (ex Incipio Group) and William Fuller (ex Soho House), Bird House London specialises in creating and operating neighbourhood and community focused bars. The group’s first venue, The Hawk’s Nest in Shepherd’s Bush, launched to great acclaim in 2020, which was followed by Peckham Arches and sister bar Skylarking in March 2023.

Bird House Brewery will launch on Thursday 28th March and be open from Wednesday – Sunday.
