Radisson Hotel Group has revealed plans to open a 401-room hotel at Manchester City Football Club’s Etihad Stadium, set to launch in late 2026.
Radisson has announced that the hotel, named the Medlock, will cater to visitors attending events at the stadium as well as those at the nearby Co-op Live arena.
The hotel will feature suites, deluxe and standard rooms, along with a luxury penthouse, and will be managed by Valor Hospitality.
The hotel will offer a range of F&B options.

The luxury Welsh hotel, Grove of Narberth, has received planning permission to expand its guest room capacity and introduce new back-of-house facilities for staff.
The plans for the hotel's expansion were initially submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council in autumn 2021 and received approval last week on 25 February.

The luxury boutique hotel, Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, has unveiled its 77 private residences for booking, eight months after its grand opening.
Ranging from one to two bedrooms, The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Mayfair have been designed by London-based Studio Indigo, the same team behind the hotel’s 50 bedrooms and suites.
Each of the 77 apartments boasts a kitchen designed by Thomas Juul-Hansen, complete with integrated Gaggenau and Miele appliances and a wine fridge. The residences also feature separate living and dining areas.

Irish-owned aparthotel operator Staycity Group aims to triple its size over the next five years after securing a £77 million loan from OakNorth Bank.
Founded in Dublin in 2004, Staycity Group operates two aparthotel brands: Staycity Aparthotels, with seven locations across the UK, and the lifestyle-focused Wilde brand (pictured), which has six UK sites.
Staycity Group currently operates 6,000 keys across 36 aparthotels in the UK and Europe. The £77 million loan will fuel its future growth as the company targets expanding to 18.

Manchester’s five-star Lowry Hotel has joined Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) as part of the Leng’s Collection.
Situated on the banks of the River Irwell, The Lowry Hotel features 165 rooms, the River Restaurant and Bar, a spa, and multiple event spaces. The hotel is owned by CDL Hospitality Trust.

Whitbread, the owner of Premier Inn, is planning to reduce its customer support and call centre teams by approximately 300 jobs and shift some roles overseas.
The company stated that its guest reservations team would be outsourced, pending consultation, and that half of the calls it receives are already handled by an overseas partner.
Whitbread's head office, along with its guest relations team in Houghton Regis, will remain based in the UK.
The group stated that it aimed to improve 'efficiency' and anticipated that around 150 roles would be redeployed within the business.

Mollie’s has named Matt Bell as its new managing director. With over 20 years of leadership and operational experience in hospitality, Bell joins the brand as it continues its ambitious growth plans.
Bell previously served as chief hotel operating officer at citizenM and has also held roles as operations director at The Hospital Club and general manager at Seaham Hall Hotel & Serenity Spa.

Wroxall Abbey Hotel in Warwickshire has closed for the third time in six years.
The hotel closed last week after the leaseholder's tenancy was terminated and the estate was repossessed, according to BBC reports.
The tenancy at the hotel was held by JGBM Hotel Limited. Paresh Thakkar, one of the directors of the company that took over the hotel’s operations in 2022, told the BBC that the termination was 'a total shock.'

John McLean has been promoted to managing director of the Stafford Collection hotel group.
The promotion comes less than a year after McLean joined the company as general manager, having previously worked at the Cadogan hotel in London.
The Stafford Collection includes the Stafford London hotel in Mayfair, Northcote in Lancashire, and the Norma restaurant in London’s Fitzrovia.

Brian Hennessy has been appointed head chef of the Winter Garden Restaurant at the Landmark London.
He joins the hotel from the Michelin-starred Ritz London, where he served as sous chef, overseeing the main restaurant, private dining room, room service, and bar area.
Hennessy also has previous experience at the Rees Hotel in New Zealand and at the Michelin-starred Campagne restaurant in Ireland.

The five-star Mayfair hotel, DUKES London, is closing its doors for 'extensive renovations' as part of an ongoing refurbishment project.
During the ongoing refurbishment, DUKES Bar will remain open and continue to operate during its regular hours.
Interior designer Russell Sage will oversee the renovation, and as part of the redesign, DUKES London will collaborate with a historian to explore the hotel's legacy and the history of the surrounding St James’s area. The insights gained will be integrated into the hotel’s new identity.

Rockcliffe Hall in County Durham has received approval for the initial phase of an extensive redevelopment project.
The five-AA-red-star hotel aims to establish itself as a 'world-class, gastronomy-focused destination,' led by culinary director James Close, former chef patron of the two-Michelin-starred Raby Hunt.
Darlington Council has now granted approval for the hotel to construct a 584 sq.m pavilion, which will feature a restaurant with an open kitchen managed by Close.
Rockliffe Hall is still awaiting a decision on a second planning application to renovate the hotel’s Grade II-listed Old Hall and enhance its guest rooms and facilities.

Hotel and leisure club operator Village Hotels has acquired the former Crowne Plaza property at Caversham Bridge in Reading.
The property, purchased from Brightbay Real Estate Partners, an affiliate of Starwood Capital Group, will undergo a multimillion-pound renovation to align with the Village brand.
This acquisition is part of a broader investment program launched in September, which aims to upgrade over 50% of Village's portfolio. The plan includes extensions to bedrooms and facilities.

Will Oakley has been appointed as the new managing director of Cameron House on Loch Lomond.
Oakley has replaced Michael Lavizani as managing director of Cameron House on Loch Lomond. Lavizani stepped down from the position late last year, having served in the role since his appointment in June 2023.
Oakley joined Cameron House after serving as managing director of Jumby Bay Island, a 300-acre private resort by the Oetker Collection in Antigua.
He previously held general manager roles at the Cadogan in London.

Family-run hospitality company JMK Group has announced plans to transform a former London office building into a hotel, having secured a £16.6 million loan.
The co-loan from OakNorth and REL Finance will be used to convert a five-storey, Grade II-listed office building on St Clement Lane in the City of London into a 185-room hotel, pending planning permission.
JMK Group was founded in 2009 by John Kajani with the opening of a small boutique hotel in London’s Kensington.

Scottish group Crerar Hotels returned to profitability last year, despite disruptions to island ferry services.
The company, which operates seven hotels and inns, including the Isle of Mull Hotel in Craignure, was sold to Blantyre Capital Limited and Fairtree Hotel Investments in 2023 for an undisclosed amount.
Investments made by the new owners in the hotels contributed to a nearly 9% increase in group turnover, reaching £20.2 million between 26 March 2023 and 31 March 2024, according to the accounts.

Daish’s Holidays will invest over £1 million to refurbish more than 100 bedrooms across its hotels in preparation for the 2025 season.
The family-owned UK coach holiday group intends to upgrade five of its 12 hotels during the winter.
This includes upgrades to the Esplanade Hotel in Scarborough, which Daish’s acquired out of administration in 2020.
Refurbishments will also take place at the Abbey Lawn Hotel in Torquay.

Scottish boutique hotel group Manorview has proposed plans for a significant redevelopment of the Bothwell Bridge Hotel, which includes the addition of a new spa.
The group, which also owns Boclair House in Bearsden and the Redhurst in Giffnock, acquired the South Lanarkshire hotel in 2022.
The plans involve a complete interior refurbishment of Bothwell Bridge, creating 70 bedrooms, including a Honeymoon Suite and a guest suite accommodating up to six people.
A 175-cover brasserie-style dining area will replace the current restaurant.
