Seaco Investments acquires Busaba Eathai in pre-pack deal following administration
The Thai restaurant chain Busaba has been sold through a pre-pack administration deal following its entry into administration on 16 July.

Following their appointment, administrator Leonard Curtis arranged a pre-pack sale to Seaco Investments, led by finance professional Ronald Seacombe.

The deal has saved approximately 240 jobs at the restaurant chain.

Market Halls appoints new CEO amid ambitious expansion plans
Market Halls has named a new chief executive as it sets its sights on surpassing £100 million in annual revenue and aims to double its footprint over the next three years.

Matt Brandon has been promoted to Chief Executive of the casual dining chain Honest Burgers, succeeding Kevin Styles, who is departing after just seven months to become CEO of the Pig hotels.

Sticks’n’Sushi to launch first Scottish location
Danish restaurant group Sticks’n’Sushi is preparing to launch its first location in Scotland this November, opening a 177-seat dining room and bar on George Square in Glasgow.

The space has been designed by OEO Studio, the Danish design company known for creating Noma Kyoto.

With this new opening, Sticks’n’Sushi will have a total of 31 restaurants across Denmark, the UK, and Germany.

The menu will include dishes such as beef tataki.

Claude Bosi names chef André Garrett as Group Culinary Director
Chef André Garrett has been named Group Culinary Director of the Claude Bosi restaurant group.

He brings over 20 years of industry experience, having most recently held the position of executive chef at Corinthia London. Prior to that, he was executive chef at Cliveden House in Berkshire, where he led the relaunch and refurbishment of both the hotel and its flagship restaurant.

Before that, he served as head chef at the Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows, which closed in 2024.

Big Table Group reduces losses as Managing Director of leisure division departs
Big Table Group, the operator behind Bella Italia, Las Iguanas, and Café Rouge, has reported improved trading results for the 12 months ending 27 October 2024.

The company cut its pre-tax losses from £13.8 million in the 2023 financial year to £4.4 million in 2024.

Adjusted trading EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) rose by 77%, reaching £3.9 million—up from £2.2 million the previous year.

Thomas Heier steps down as chief executive of Wagamama as part of a broader senior leadership reshuffle
Thomas Heier has exited his position as chief executive of Wagamama UK after serving in the role for four years.

Heier joined Wagamama in 2017 as people director and became chief executive in 2021, leading the company through the latter stages of the pandemic and navigating significant cost pressures.

The Restaurant Group (TRG), owner of the Wagamama brand, has purchased 10 freehold pubs from Oakman Inns, a pub and restaurant chain, amid earlier rumours of a sale.

Yesterday’s Sky News report revealed that TRG was in “advanced discussions” to acquire certain assets from Oakman’s privately held company.

Industry sources told Sky News that Oakman and its advisers were negotiating with other potential buyers. One source suggested that TRG is expected to acquire between one-third and half of Oakman’s 30-pub portfolio.
