Individual Restaurants appoints new Group Sales and Marketing Director
Individual Restaurants has appointed Neve Rabbou as Group Sales and Marketing Director, bringing her onto the Executive Board. This appointment is part of a series of strategic senior hires made over the past 12 months.

The announcement follows the 32-strong restaurant group's report of record-breaking sales during the Christmas period, with a 14% increase in total sales over the four weeks of December. Sales reached a milestone peak on December 13th.

Rabbou brings more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry.

Various Eateries appoints new CEO
Mark Loughborough has been named chief executive of Various Eateries, the restaurant group behind the Noci and Coppa Club brands.

He will join the board and begin his role at the company, backed by hospitality entrepreneur Hugh Osmond, on 20 January.

Loughborough brings over 30 years of industry experience, including 14 years at Young’s, where he served as retail director and executive board member. During his tenure, he oversaw operations for 280 pubs and 1,085 bedrooms, managing £490 million in revenue.

Private equity firm Directional Capital acquires Pizza Hut in pre-pack administration deal
Directional Capital has acquired Pizza Hut’s UK dine-in restaurants following the business entering pre-pack administration.

Negotiations to acquire the 139 Pizza Hut dine-in restaurants, operating under Heart With Smart, have concluded with the chain being sold out of administration, securing around 3,000 jobs.

The US-based private equity firm Directional Capital already manages Pizza Hut restaurants in Sweden and Denmark.

The deal comes after Will Wright and Chris Pole from Interpath were appointed as joint administrators of Heart With Smart Restaurants.

Crazy Bear hotels announces successful buy-out
Crazy Bear has announced the sale of the business in a deal that provides “long-term capital to support the group’s ambitious growth plans.”

Executive director Richard Booth and managing director Tom Etridge have completed a management buyout of the business.

In October, the hotel group, known for its eclectic designs and with two hotels featuring in-house restaurants in Stadhampton and Beaconsfield, announced it was seeking new investment as part of efforts to reposition the business. At the time.

Comptoir Group, the owner of Comptoir Libanais and Shawa restaurants, has announced the reappointment of former CEO Chaker Hanna to the role.

This decision comes after the announcement that the group's current CEO, Nick Ayerst, will step down at the end of February 2025 to 'pursue an exciting career opportunity.'

Hanna, who stepped down as CEO in 2022, was selected by the group’s founder and creative director, Tony Kitous, to replace Ayerst. His reappointment is subject to regulatory checks.

Rick Stein celebrates 50th anniversary by offering 1975 menu prices
Rick Stein Restaurants is rolling its prices back to 1975 to celebrate 50 years since the opening of the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.

From 6-9 February, selected Rick Stein restaurants will offer seafood dishes at 1970s prices during lunchtime.

Sample dishes on the Rolled Back & Retro Menu include shellfish soup for 50p, grilled lobster for £2.80, seafood thermidor for £2.20, and Cornish bouillabaisse for £2.60.

Desserts on the menu will feature treacle tart for 35p and apple pancakes with Calvados sauce for 40p.

Berenjak to open its third London restaurant
Berenjak, the Persian restaurant supported by JKS Restaurants, is set to open its third London location this year.

Honest Burgers’ new quick-service concept will be called Honest Smash + Grab

Located outside the main entrance of Tesco Extra, the PizzaExpress Pod offers customers the convenience of ordering on the go through an open kitchen and collection window. David Loewi to step down as D&D London's CEO
David Loewi will be stepping down as Chief Executive of D&D London at the end of the year.

The co-founder of D&D London will remain on as an advisor to the board until a replacement is found.

Ollie Dabbous to step down as Chef Patron of London’s Hide restaurant
Ollie Dabbous has revealed that he will be stepping down as chef patron of Hide in Mayfair, London, in early 2025.

The chef launched Hide in April 2018 as a multi-level collaboration with Hedonism Wines in London’s Piccadilly. This followed the closure of his casual dining restaurant Barnyard and his eponymous restaurant, Dabbous, which had earned him the 2013 Newcomer Catey award, the year prior.

The 2,021 sq ft space has launched at 219 King’s Road, bringing a slice of coastal Italy to the heart of Chelsea for the first time.
