Tortilla announces Andy Naylor as its new CEO
Andy Naylor, who served as the UK Managing Director for Tortilla, has been named the new CEO of the fast-casual Mexican chain.

He will succeed the current CEO, Richard Morris, who has dedicated the last decade to his role at Tortilla.

Naylor has collaborated with Morris for the past seven years, initially serving as the chief financial officer. Over time, his role expanded to include business development responsibilities. More recently, he assumed the position of UK Managing Director.

The Tommy Banks Group appoints a new head chef and executive chef
Alice Power has been elevated to the position of head chef at the renowned Michelin-starred Black Swan in Oldstead.

The former senior sous chef steps into the role previously held by Callum Leslie, who now assumes the position of executive chef overseeing both the Black Swan and the Abbey Inn in Yorkshire, both integral parts of the broader Tommy Banks Group.

Power became part of the Black Swan team in October 2021 as a chef de partie, following her graduation from Leiths School of Food and Wine in 2019.

The Sticks'n'Sushi restaurant group has obtained a £22 million loan to bolster its expansion plans.

The funding provided by OakNorth bank will be utilised to launch new establishments across the United Kingdom.

This development follows the acquisition of Sticks'n'Sushi by the private equity firm McWin in January. McWin, known for its backing of Big Mamma Group and Gail's, aims to expand Sticks'n'Sushi into new markets over the next five years.

Established in Denmark in 1994 by Thor Andersen and brothers Kim Rahbek Hansen and Jens Rahbek Hansen.

Salt Bae's Nusr-Et restaurant reports 44% profit boost
Profit before tax soared to £3.3m at Salt Bae's Nusr-Et steakhouse in London's Knightsbridge, accounts filed with Companies House have revealed.

Nusret UK Limited's trading update for the year ended 31 December 2022 reported turnover of £13.6m, up from £8.2m in 2021, while profit before tax jumped from £2.3m to £3.3m.

Nusr-Et London made its debut in September 2021, marking the group's first UK opening, following successful restaurant openings in Turkey, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and the United States.

Chef Santiago Lastra of KOL to launch a new Mexican restaurant in Mayfair
Santiago Lastra, the chef patron renowned for his Michelin-starred Mexican restaurant Kol in London's Marylebone, is set to launch a second venue in the city's West End.

Continuing his partnership with MJMK Restaurants, the group responsible for Kol, Nuno Mendes' Lisboeta, and Casa do Frango, Santiago Lastra will introduce another Mexican restaurant named Fonda at 12 Heddon Street in Mayfair.

Kol appoints former Eleven Madison Park chef Rey Lopez
Rey Lopez has been appointed head chef at Michelin-starred London restaurant Kol.

He's now part of the team at the Mexican fine dining restaurant, where he'll be cooking alongside chef patron Santiago Lastra.

Tortilla ends delivery partnership with Deliveroo
Tortilla has ended its delivery partnership with Deliveroo as part of a review of its strategy.

The burrito brand's Mexican dishes are no longer available for ordering on the Deliveroo app. However, they can still be found on Uber Eats and Just Eat platforms.

Wagamama plans to open 10 restaurants this year
