Staffordshire-based Alton Towers Resort has submitted plans to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to build a new visitor attraction, with the creation of up to 25 jobs.
With approval grants, the company aims to start construction of its latest addition to its iconic Secret Weapon Canon next month. Named Secret Weapon 8 (SW8), the new ride would open in 2018.
Due to be located on the former site of The Flume, this groundbreaking new development promises to be the largest and most anticipated addition to the rides and attractions line-up since The Smiler back in 2013.
The themed ride, which will stand around 196 metres high, will include sound tunnels and screens and would be complete with a maintenance building, station, shop, pre-show building, games unit and a food kiosk.
