Construction starts & GM announced for Silverstone Hilton

Hilton has just celebrated two significant milestones as it accelerates towards opening the 197-room Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone.

Anthony Duggan has been appointed as hotel General Manager, whilst a ground-breaking ceremony heralded the start of construction on the hotel’s bridge, which will link the five-storey hotel to the Silverstone Wing and its dining, conference and event facilities. RG Group, the appointed Main Contractor, has been on site since January 2019, and the hotel is expected to open Summer 2020.

Following the signing of a management agreement with owners, Bricks Capital Ltd, in September 2018, Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will be the first hotel to be built at the UK’s premier motor racing venue.

Providing a unique setting for motorsport enthusiasts, Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will overlook the start/finish line of the Silverstone circuit, giving guests unparalleled views over the famous race track, especially from the balconies.

The hotel features a stunning rooftop terrace capable of hosting up to 200 guests, suitable for private and corporate events, offering unrivalled viewing of all the action on the track combined with destination dining.

Alexander Murray, Vice President Operations, Focused Service Hotels, EMEA, Hilton said, “Silverstone is an historic motoring landmark that welcomes more than a million visitors a year. Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone will be a fantastic addition to the Silverstone race day experience and create a new, all-year-round destination for business travellers, event organisers, weekenders or anyone simply seeking a memorable experience.”

Duggan’s appointment to the position of General Manager will bring Hilton Garden Inn’s outstanding hospitality to life for guests. Anthony has an impressive track record having held a number of leadership roles during his decade-long hotelier career.

Duggan said, “I am honoured to have been appointed General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone. As an avid motorsport fan, this position allows me to combine my professional and personal interests. I am both delighted and grateful for this opportunity given to me by Hilton and Bricks Capital, and together we are sure this opening will be huge success.”

Allan Davidson, COO of Bricks Capital, said, “Anthony’s appointment is a key milestone in the opening journey of the Hilton Garden Inn Silverstone. His energy, enthusiasm and experience are second to none, and we are thrilled to have him on board. I’ve no doubt he will ensure that the Hilton Garden Inn at Silverstone will deliver an exceptional experience for all our guests and partners.”

Bricks Capital has ambitious growth plans for its hotel portfolio, and it is currently looking for new development opportunities. Along with its hotel in Silverstone, the company is also opening a hotel at London City Airport next summer, offering guests the only place to eat, meet and sleep within a three-minute walk of the airport.

Hilton Garden Inn is one of Hilton’s largest brands with over 850 hotels trading globally.
