Magpie welcomes key chefs into kitchen for supper club

This November, James Ramsden and Sam Herlihy are inviting some of London’s hottest talent to join them in the Magpie kitchen as they bring back their supper club for one night only.

Harking back to the days of their supper club, which operated out of Ramsden’s Holloway flat, the dinner on 12 November at their recently opened Heddon Street restaurant will see Ravinder Bhogal, chef patron of Jikoni, Tom Oldroyd (pictured) of the eponymous Islington restaurant and Executive Chef at Duck & Waffle, Dan Doherty step up to the stoves alongside Magpie’s James and Sam.

Chefs will be tasked with creating one dish for the exclusive four course dinner with all profits being donated to Shelterbox, an international charity who provide vital aid and protection to families who have lost everything due to natural disaster and conflict.

Ramsden said, 'The first Secret Larder Supper club that we hosted together came about after I stumbled across a piece that Sam wrote for a music magazine and emailed him out of the blue. He said “no, thanks” but a few months later he got back in touch, we met, a friendship developed, a one off collaboration at the supper club became a regular thing and eventually became one and now two restaurants.'

Herlihy said, 'It’s been an age since James and I were last cooking together for paying guests. It remains to be seen if this is a ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ style comeback or a ‘Joey’. Either way, I can’t wait to embarrass ourselves next to three incredibly talented professional chefs and raise some money for a vitally important charity.'
