Coal Grill & Bar chain changes hands


Charterhouse Leisure, trading as Coal Grill & Bar, has been sold by Proven VCT and Proven Growth & Income VCT to Sunshine Capital.

Coal Grill & Bar operates nine high volume casual dining restaurants in Basingstoke, Bristol, Bristol Waterside, Exeter, Meadowhall, Milton Keynes, Gloucester Quays, Telford and Swindon.

The Financial Director, Michelle Carpenter, and Glenn Campbell, the Interim Managing Director, will remain with the firm.

Sumit Chadha, CEO of Sunshine Capital, said, “We are delighted to have secured the successful acquisition of Charterhouse Leisure Ltd and believe that under our stewardship, the Company is well positioned to strengthen its performance, build new restaurant destinations and provide great development opportunities for the team.”

The brand serves up skewers of prime meat, shared platters, breakfasts and hearty filled baguettes, along with a range of cocktails.
