MHDV sees Stratford-upon-Avon hotel plans move forward

Malmaison Hotel Du Vin (MHDV) has submitted a planning application to convert two listed buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre into a boutique hotel.

The national chain announced its intentions to convert two former office and residential buildings in Rother Street into a new hotel back in May.

The two Grade II-Listed Georgian townhouses, at 7 and 8 Rother Street, are owned by the Stratford Town Trust and will be leased to the hotel chain if its plans are successful.

The 48-bedroom hotel would create at least 60 jobs and would include meeting and private dining rooms, a bistro and a separate banqueting room with the capacity to seat 80 diners.

The submitted plans detail how later additions to the two buildings would be demolished and a new four storey extension would be built at the rear of the properties.
