London's Goring hotel promotes Michael Voigt to the role of managing director

The Goring Hotel, situated in London's vibrant Victoria area, has announced the promotion of Michael Voigt to the esteemed position of Managing Director.

Voigt, who assumed the position of General Manager at the hotel in 2020, now steps into the role of Managing Director, succeeding David Morgan-Hewitt, who has gracefully transitioned to the position of Chairman.

Voigt took to LinkedIn to share the news, writing, “It is a privilege to have been appointed Managing Director at The Goring.

I am looking forward to leading this wonderful hotel into the future with its amazing team, many of whom have been here for many years.”

Hailing from Germany, Voigt brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the General Manager of L’oscar London for five years. During his tenure, he spearheaded a remarkable £40 million transformation of the historic Baptist church headquarters into a luxurious 39-room hotel.

Before his time at L’oscar London, Voigt held the position of General Manager at The Prince Akatoki in Marble Arch for a successful two-year term.

With an impressive tenure spanning over 30 years, Morgan-Hewitt has been an integral part of The Goring's legacy. Renowned as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s favored hotelier, his contributions have left an indelible mark on the esteemed establishment.

In a recent development, The Goring unveiled its newly refurbished Michelin-starred Dining Room restaurant, featuring exquisite interiors meticulously crafted by Russell Sage Studio. Drawing inspiration from the opulence of London's Royal palaces and majestic residences, the revamped space promises a truly regal dining experience.

Enhancing the ambiance, the revitalised space showcases striking red furnishings juxtaposed against bespoke green floral wallpaper from Fromental, adorned with intricate hand-painted details. Plush fabrics, cozy corner sofas, and elegant chandeliers further enrich the dining experience with a touch of luxury and charm.

Marking a historic milestone, The Dining Room has ushered in a new era with the installation of a brand-new kitchen, a first in its century-long legacy. This state-of-the-art kitchen serves as the culinary hub for Executive Chef Graham Squire, where he meticulously crafts the restaurant's seasonal, ingredient-driven British dishes, showcasing the epitome of culinary excellence.

Established in 1910 by Otto Goring, The Goring stands as a testament to timeless elegance and familial legacy. Remarkably, it remains the sole luxury hotel in London owned and operated by the same family that founded it, preserving a rich heritage of hospitality for over a century.
