GM appointed for new Courtyard by Marriott London Luton Airport

A General Manager has been appointed to lead the team at the brand new Courtyard by Marriott London Luton Airport, which is due to open early in 2018.

Experienced hotelier Mohammed Azam will oversee the launch of the hotel, as well as ensuring its ongoing success once opened.

He will look after the 250 bedroom modular build hotel, which will be situated just 10 minutes’ walk from Luton Airport’s departure lounge, and will boast thoughtfully designed guestrooms that promote comfort and productivity.

The hotel, owned by Polcom Developments, and operated by RBH, will also include a bar, bistro and gym.

Azam, who has worked in the hospitality industry for more than 22 years, has an impressive CV having worked for a host of reputable hotels across the UK as well as in Dubai.

His most recent role saw him take charge of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Spa in Liverpool as General Manager.

Azam said, “I’m delighted to be overseeing the launch of what promises to be a fantastic hotel. It will have everything business and leisure travellers need, as well as being just 10 minutes’ walk from the airport’s main departure lounge. This is the first modular build hotel I have launched, so I’m looking forward to getting started on what promises to be an exciting and challenging journey.”

John Stuart, Chief Operating Officer at RBH, said, “Mohammed brings a wealth of industry experience to this role thanks to a fantastic background working with some of the industry’s most recognised brands. I’m pleased to welcome him to the helm of what promises to be a fabulous new hotel.”

The hotel will be managed by the UK’s leading independent hotel management company, Redefine|BDL Hotels (RBH), which will take full responsibility for the venue’s operations when it opens its doors. It will join two other Courtyard by Marriott properties in the RBH portfolio – both of which are in Edinburgh.
