Truman's Owners Seek East London Brewery Site


James Morgan and Michael-George Hemus, the new owners of east London beer brand Truman’s are asking for help from local ale drinkers to find a site for its new brewery.

Founded in 1666, Truman’s was refounded in 2010, after being brewed in east London for more than 300 years at the Black Eagle Brewery in Brick Lane where production then stopped in 1989 when all their pubs were sold and Truman’s closed down. Their beer is now currently brewed under licence at the Nethergate brewery in Essex.

Truman’s have already put in a bid with the Olympic Legacy Committee to take over part of the Olympic site after the games. However even with potential developers showing an interest, it will not be until 2013 when Truman’s can get started on transforming the site to their brewery and they aim to be up and running again at the end of this year.
