Truman's set to return to London

Well known London brewer Truman’s, which operated in Brick Lane for more than 300 years before closing in 1989, is set to return to London after securing a site in Hackney for its new brewery.

James Morgan and Michael-George Hemus refounded the brand in 2010 and have since been asking locals to help them find a site for its new brewery (as reported earlier this year). In the meantime they have been brewing beer under license in Essex. Its flagship beer- The Truman’s Runner- is currently available in more than 150 pubs across London.

The new brewery will be a little shy of the 400,000 barrels churned out in Brick Lane but Morgan and Hemus aim to produve a sizeable amount of beer.

Initial investment has been secured and the company's 'Truman's Eagle' funding scheme closes at the end of the year. The official opening of the New Truman's Brewery is planned for the spring.
