It’s been an incredible start to 2023 for Lake District gem The Forest Side which has just
taken the number 9 spot in Square Meal’s annual list of the UK’s Top 100 Restaurants.
Head Chef Paul Leonard was praised for “translating the Cumbrian landscape into a series
of intriguing tasting menus.”
A unique combination of Square Meal’s own in-house critic-led opinions and diner votes,
these coveted accolades represent not only the professional opinion of the UK’s leading
independent restaurant guide but thousands of real-life experiences.
The honour comes hot on the heels of The Forest Side climbing into the Top 30 of the
Harden's Top 100 Best UK Restaurants diners’ poll earlier this month, a rise of nine places
year on year. “One of the highlights of Lakeland and indeed UK gastronomy” was just one
of the many plaudits the restaurant with rooms received.

District, The Forest Side is already the proud recipient of a Michelin star and four AA
Rosettes.
