Tim Hortons launches franchise model for major UK expansion


Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons is set for a substantial expansion in the UK, adopting a fresh franchise approach. With a global presence of 4,700 stores, the brand has rapidly established 75 locations in the UK since its inception in Glasgow in 2017.

Remarkably, it stands as one of the fastest-growing brands in the UK, with 31 new sites added in 2022 alone. Tim Hortons now aims for further expansion across towns and cities throughout the country. This endeavour follows a comprehensive five-year test and learn phase, allowing partners the opportunity to launch drive-through and high street restaurants nationwide.

Kevin Hydes, the Chief Commercial Officer at Tim Hortons, expressed satisfaction with the reception the brand has received in the UK had been 'nothing short of extraordinary'.

The launch of its inaugural London site at Park Royal in 2022 marked one of Tim Hortons' most triumphant global debuts in the past five years.

'We are looking for expert operators from across the UK. with a proven record of delivering brand standards, delighting customers, and driving commercial growth,' said Hydes.

im Hortons was founded in Canada in 1964 and works with over 1,500 franchisees in locations including Canada, China, India, the UAE, and Mexico.

It is owned by fast food giant Restaurant Brands International, which is behind Burger King and the Popeyes fried chicken chain, which is also expanding in the UK.
