Catering software boosts Social Bite’s corporate catering revenue by 1000%

A growing Scottish software-as-a-service company has helped increase Social Bite’s corporate catering revenue by 1000%, seeing monthly sales from the service grow from £7k to £70k.

Spoonfed, provider of end-to-end drop off catering software that offers an efficient ordering system for corporate catering, began working with Social Bite in 2015 to help them increase efficiencies and reduce errors created by manual order taking.

Since implementing Spoonfed’s software, corporate catering has become Social Bite’s biggest revenue generator, accounting for 50 per cent of all company revenue.

The popular social enterprise has also seen a 25% increase in average order value over a six-month period.

Willie Biggart, Managing Director at Spoonfed, said, “With Social Bite we saw an opportunity for them to revamp their corporate catering order process with the help of our software, and we’re delighted that they have seen such outstanding results.

“Social Bite does brilliant work within the homeless community and we wanted to ensure that they could continue to do this with the help of Spoonfed. As a result, we incorporated the option to ‘suspend’ items like coffee or sandwiches, meaning companies placing corporate orders could reserve items to give back to the homeless community, all with just a couple of clicks.”

Prior to using Spoonfed, Social Bite was using a paper and spreadsheet system to receive corporate orders, relying on staff members to answer the phone and take orders by hand. However, this system became outdated, complicated, prone to error and inhibited its growth ambitions.

Alan Mahon, director at Social Bite, said, “Since adopting Spoonfed’s software, our corporate image has vastly improved and we have seen continued customer satisfaction and confidence in our offerings, which has been brilliant.

“The exponential increase we have seen in corporate catering is incredibly encouraging for us as a social enterprise. The more profit we make, the more we can contribute to the heart of our cause, which is to donate 100 per cent of our profits to homeless initiatives in the community.

“Spoonfed’s software has given us the chance to focus less on taking orders by phone and more on how we can continue to grow the corporate catering side of the business.”

Spoonfed is a cloud-based system for single and multi-site catering management. It’s used for online ordering, production planning, route planning, invoicing and email marketing, bringing these logistics together into one integrated solution.
