Corbin & King brings lease for Bellanger site to market

Following the recent news that Corbin & King is to close its restaurant, Bellanger in Islington, it has now instructed Christie & Co to bring the lease to the market.

A prominent site overlooking Islington Green in North London, the restaurant offers a great opportunity for new operators to take advantage of a well appointed trading space and excellent back of house facilities through the purchase of the existing lease.

The Islington area has long been a hot spot for hospitality with a wide ranging array of bars and restaurants. Many of these are smaller, independent operators making Bellanger one of the largest venues in the immediate area being around 6,800 sqft, all on the ground floor.

There is a busy circuit in Islington with a mix of casual dining and coffee venues plus late night cocktail bars, with the site well placed to take advantage of both parts.

Corbin & King co-founder, Jeremy King commented, “Although we loved being in Islington, we just couldn’t make it the success we aspired to, and with seven other restaurants, plus a recently acquired site in Notting Hill and working on the opening of Manzi’s in Soho, the time was right to move on.”

Simon Chaplin, Senior Director at Christie & Co added, “The Islington area still remains in high demand as it has long been a key London location for many operators. A site such as this, with its attractive location, extensive ground floor and quality fit-out will attract considerable interest from both UK and overseas operators.

'Whilst the Bellinger concept didn’t quite fit with Islington, many will see the opportunity to establish a new bar restaurant business in a flagship location.”
