New group head chef for 26 Grains & Stoney Street

Alex Hely-Hutchinson, founder of London's 26 Grains and Stoney Street restaurants, is set to welcome Lucy Timm to the family as Group Head Chef on 25 May.

Working across both sites, Lucy will be working on a new menu of comforting and seasonal plates.

Starting her career as Chef de Commis at Sager + Wilde, Lucy then went on to restaurant and wine bar Fare, where she mastered her skills in butchery. Following this, Lucy joined the team at Michelin-starred Leroy as Senior Chef de Partie, working closely with the previous head chef Sam Kamienko.

During lockdown Lucy began her own venture Plates & Playlists, where she offered three-course finish at home set menus with a playlist to match. Since March 2021, Lucy has worked as Head Chef at Royale, specialising in Provençal cooking and rotisserie chicken.

Alex opened her first bricks and mortar site in Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden in 2015.

Open all day, 26 Grains focuses on simple, quality and seasonal cooking with a menu featuring sweet and savoury porridge, topped toasts and savoury plates such as yellow daal and warming salads.

Each month, it collaborates with likeminded guest chefs or restaurant to create a special dish on the menu, with past collaborations including Diana Henry, Merlin Labron Johnson and Rochelle Canteen.
