Clapham Common restaurant shakes things up with cocktail masterclasses

This November, Clapham Common’s neighbourhood restaurant, Minnow will be throwing open its doors every Tuesday evening, inviting guests behind the bar to shake things up and try their hand at mixing some cocktails.

Hosted by Minnow’s resident cocktail expert, Marco Giovanelli, every week will focus on a different cocktail inspired by a Clapham landmark or a famous Clapham character including The Temperance Fountain and Natsume Soseki.

Giovanelli will take guests on a whirlwind journey of the local area, with the opportunity to go behind the counter and hone their skills. Once cocktails are shaken and stirred, Head Chef Jake Boyce will create accompanying bar snacks to compliment the evening’s drinks.

Kicking things off on 14 November will be ‘The Natsume’ made with sakè, green tea syrup, lemon juice, ginger and egg white. The following week will be themed around The Grieg, made with dry vodka, organic sweet vermouth, dry vermouth, seawater and smoke, and the final masterclass will round things off with The Minnow, with rum, chestnut liquor, lime, egg white, pear purée and ginger.

Overlooking Clapham Common, guests will be seated at Minnow’s intimate eight seat marble counter, at the heart of the buzzing restaurant. Founder Chris Frichot comments, “Tuesday nights are looking up – we’re excited to welcome guests, old and new, and can’t wait to see them shake things up at the Minnow bar, while giving them the expertise to stir their own tipple at home!”

Minnow’s Cocktail Masterclasses will run on 14, 21 and 28 November at 7pm.
