Edwards & Blake wins £430k RNIB catering contract

Swaffham-based contract catering firm, Edwards & Blake has won its first contract in London managing the on-site catering for the Royal National Institute of Blind People at their London and Peterborough offices.

Edwards & Blake, an independent company based at EcoTech Innovation Business Park, was selected ahead of other national contract caterers to serve breakfast, lunch and hospitality to the staff and general public that operate from the RNIB’s offices in King’s Cross.

The contract worth £430,000 over the term, is Edwards & Blake’s first contract outside of East Anglia.

In addition to providing the catering function to the RNIB in London, they will also service the firm’s sister office in Peterborough.

Shirley Edwards, managing director of Edwards & Blake, said, “We pride ourselves on offering high standards, with all produce sourced as locally as possible of each client. We beat off strong competition from national contract catering firms, which shows how clients are searching for quality food and beverage provision for their staff.

“This contract win is a promising development for the business. Our mission is to provide a flexible and tailored approach, offering a cost-effective and dynamic service to clients. Although we ‘do-different’ we will always stay true to our core values and that’s what I think the RNIB liked.”

Amanda Gackowska, facilities manager from the RNIB, said, “We chose Edwards and Blake because of its innovative and fresh approach to catering – their food is delicious, high quality and locally sourced. We’re all looking forward to tucking in!”.

Owned and managed by entrepreneurs Shirley Edwards and Caroline Blake, the company looks after more than 85 contracts, has more than 500 staff and a turnover of over £14m.
