Welsh c-store changes hands for first time in over 30 years

Mace-branded convenience store, situated in the popular Welsh seaside resort of Rhyl, has been sold off an asking price of offers over £230k.

The popular store is located on Trellewelyn Road, and offers household products, confectionery, bakery goods, dairy, canned goods, and alcohol alongside National Lottery and Pay Zone services to residents in the local area.

The store also benefits from modern, three bedroom family accommodation that will enable the new owner to reside on site.

Karen Dean owned and operated the store for over 30 years and sought a sale in order to retire. She comments, “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed running the store but I’m looking forward to putting my feet up and enjoying a well-deserved retirement. I’d like to thank Christie & Co for assisting me in finding a buyer for the business.”

The business has been acquired by Nishanthini Savuntharanayagam, a first time buyer who plans to develop the business by introducing additional product lines as well as a food to go offering, providing a greater choice to shoppers in the local community.

Savuntharanayagam commented, “My family and I are pleased to have purchased the store. It’s a really beautiful place, and we’re looking forward to improving the business and serving the local community.”

Ashley Cobban, Business Agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said, “We’re delighted to have assisted Karen in finding a buyer for her business and wish her a long and relaxing retirement. This well-established store attracted offers from a number of parties, reflecting the demand that exists for high quality retail businesses across the North Wales coast.”
