Subway opens 161st store with Euro Garages

Fast sandwich group, Subway has opened its 161st store in the UK and Ireland in partnership with Euro Garages.

Non-traditional stores are located in off-high street sites, such as petrol forecourts, convenience stores, hospitals, transport hubs, universities and colleges.

The new Subway store opened on the Euro Garages owned forecourt at Eastville Park in Bristol, and is the first non-traditional location in the UK to carry the new Subway Fresh Forward branding. The new-look store design offers customers an enhanced and modern Subway brand experience, with clean lines and customer-focused touches, such as digital menu boards, free to use charging points, along with special displays for the brand’s iconic freshly prepared salads, veggies and Subs.

The new store has created 10 new jobs and will offer customers a wide range of Subs, flatbreads, salads and drinks. The store will be open from 7am to 10pm and includes seating for 24.

Sue Pasco, Regional Development Agent for the Subway brand in the region, worked with Euro Garages on the opening of this milestone store. Sue commented: “We are very excited to be opening another store with Euro Garages. We opened our first store featuring the new-look design back in August and the reaction from customers has been really positive.”

There are now 161 Subway stores at Euro Garages sites across the UK, with a further two scheduled to open by the end of the year. Euro Garages has ambitious plans to open a further 40 Subway stores by the end of 2018. The forecourt operator has also opened two Subway franchises in the Netherlands and is working on a plan to rollout additional stores across the Netherlands, Belgium and France.

Ahmed Kazi, Group Head of Operations at Euro Garages, said, “We’re excited to open the first non-traditional Subway store to feature the new-look design. Partnering with the Subway brand enhances our offering for our customers and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the brand, with the opening of new sites in 2018.”

Justin Goes, Regional Director Europe Subway International B.V, added, “The opening of this latest non-traditional store in the UK and Ireland is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work of the Subway brand’s Development Agents in tandem with partners such as Euro Garages. Non-traditional development has been an area of growth for the Subway brand in recent years, and, in line with our ambitious plans to increase our store count to 3,000 by 2020, creating 5,000 new jobs, we expect further growth in this area.”
