Scunthorpe United gets green light for £30m stadium

Scunthorpe United has received planning consent for a new £30m stadium almost a year after submitting plans to North Lincolnshire Council.

The proposals showed a vision for a 11,000-seater stadium with the redevelopment to take place in phases. The work would also see the length and width of the pitch increased.

Under the plans, the stadium is to be demolished and rebuilt stand-by-stand over the next few seasons, which would enable the club to continue to play matches there during the development.

New cantilever style stands will mean unrestricted views of the pitch and there will be improved seating, and new eating and drinking facilities.

Additional parking will be provided to the east of the site, estimated at approximately 350 to 400 car parking spaces.

To the south east corner of the new car park approximately 100 new residential apartments will be provided.
