Legacy Hotels & Resorts to reopen Sheffield hotel

Legacy Hotels & Resorts has secured a management deal to operate the 128-bed, four-star Sheffield Hilton, the four-star hotel, which is set to reopen next month.

The hotel at Victoria Quays will be renamed Quays Hotel and will reopen next month. This opening ties in well with a £5.8m scheme at Victoria Quays to better connect it to the city centre, that will be completed in March.

Opening in 1997, The Sheffield Hilton closed on 15 December after previous operator, Park Victoria Quays Lessee surrendered its lease. The building is owned by New City Hotels.

Quays Hotel will reopen the gym, which had 1,400 members, by the end of this month. It also has a swimming pool.

Legacy's chief executive, Andrew Townsend said, “We are delighted to take on the management of the former Hilton Hotel on behalf of the new Sheffield-based owning company.

“Having previously worked for Stakis Hotel I recall the hotel’s opening with fondness and the enthusiasm it drove to that part of the city - I hope in time we can rekindle those emotions and support.”
