Magic Rock in Top 100 World Best Brewers for 8th time

Huddersfield-based craft brewer, Magic Rock has once again been named by RateBeer in the Top 100 Best Brewers in the World.

Its 2020 win marks the eighth time in the last nine years that the brewery has earnt the top brewers accolade, beating brewing giants BrewDog and Beavertown which have made the cut seven and three times, respectively.

Magic Rock began making its world-class beers in 2011 by blending Yorkshire brewing traditions with those from the US craft scene. Its beer received a phenomenal response, and the brewery was voted second best new brewery in the world by RateBeer in 2012.

Since then, the world's longest running competition of commercial beer has consistently ranked Magic Rock in its top 100 as well as awarding the brewer the following titles in its 2020 awards:

- Best brewer – West Yorkshire
- Best Brewer Tap – West Yorkshire
- Best Brewer Tap – England

The accolades are among the most prized in the industry as they are tabulated from millions of reviews submitted by RateBeer’s global community which surveys more than 640,000 beers from over 33,000 brewers.

Christa Sandquist, head of production and operations, said, “We are incredibly proud to represent the UK along with 8 other incredible breweries in the world’s top 100.

'To be included for the eighth time in the past nine years is an absolute testament to our team’s hard work, especially over the last year which has been challenging for everyone in the brewing industry. We couldn’t do this without their passion, knowledge and dedication.”

Joseph Tucker, founder of RateBeer, commented, “RateBeer Top Brewer awards go out to fewer than 1% of all breweries, and 2020, with Covid restrictions, was especially hard on brewers and the entire beverage industry.

'These are very hard-earned honors and we're pleased to shine our spotlight on this excellent, creative, tenacious group of brewers.'
