Moy Park to invest £170m in plants creating 628 jobs

Poultry processor, Moy Park has announced a £170m investment which will create 628 jobs and a new innovation centre.

Chief executive Janet McCollum said the firm, established in 1943 as a small farming business, continues to harbour 'big ambitions'. She commented, 'This investment will allow us to further grow our operations and create new jobs in Northern Ireland.'

Moy Park, which is owned by the Brazil- based Marfrig Group, is a top 20 UK company, is valued at £1bn and last year enjoyed pre-tax profits of £33.8m.

McCollom said the investment supports the move by the Brazilian parent group to transfer its entire European operation to the Co Armagh location, resulting in the official renaming of the company to Moy Park Europe.

Moy Park is one of Europe's leading food processors and its 11,500 workforce is spread across 16 facilities throughout the UK and the continent.
