The Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG), an Austrian hospitality brand with a portfolio of 30 hotels and two campsites across seven European countries, has released its latest financial results and highlighted the UK as a key market for future expansion.
At a recent press conference in Milan, FMTG reported a 2024 turnover of €264 million—an 11.1% increase over 2023—driven by more than two million overnight stays, up 7.8% year-on-year.
FMTG has a €400 million investment pipeline planned over the next five years across four countries, with half of that funding already allocated to projects in the UK, Italy, and Croatia.
Otmar Michaeler, CEO of FMTG, said: 'We are keen to build awareness of the Falkensteiner brand in the UK market, while continuing to invest in our core markets across the DACH and CEE zones, and Italy. That's where our guests already know us, that's where we are strong, that's where we invest.'
In 2024, the company appointed Nunzio Giannone of Luxury Boutique Collections as its UK trade sales representative and has since stepped up its PR efforts in the British market. By organising regular press trips and participating in key industry events—such as World Travel Market (WTM), international conferences, and UK-based media gatherings—Falkensteiner aims to boost brand awareness among British travellers who appreciate its signature ethos of 'effortless, feel-good luxury'.
What began as a small guesthouse in South Tyrol in 1957 formally became the Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group in 1995. Today, the company brings together hotel management (Falkensteiner Hotels & Residences), project development (FMTG Development), strategic tourism consulting (Michaeler & Partner), and digital investment solutions (FMTG Invest) under one umbrella. This autumn, FMTG is set to launch a new camping brand in collaboration with a strategic investor.
