London-based independent pub group Urban Pubs & Bars has acquired five London venues amid a renewed phase of expansion.
The deals, due to complete on 19 January, include the Prince Regent in Herne Hill and four Brunning & Price venues. These range from the Roebuck and the Steam Packet in Chiswick to the Queens in Crouch End and the Coco Momo brasserie in Kensington.
The five additions take Urban Pubs & Bars’ London estate to 65 venues, with annual sales exceeding £100m.
In October last year, the group acquired the Albion & East restaurant and bar group, adding four London venues: Teatro Hall in Ealing, Canova Hall in Brixton, Botanica Hall in Clapham Junction, and Serata Hall in the City of London.
In 2024, the group acquired 11 former Antic Hospitality Group pubs, including the Balham Bowls Club, following their administration.
Chris Hill, managing director of Urban Pubs & Bars, said: “Well-run, well-positioned businesses are thriving in the capital. We’re seeing robust demand across our estate and strong like-for-like growth, which gives us the confidence to keep investing. These latest acquisitions are exactly the kind of sites we look for, and we’re excited about the opportunities they present as we continue to grow our London estate.”
Founded in 2014 by Malc Heap and Nick Pring, Urban Pubs & Bars has been supported by Davidson Kempner and Global Mutual since 2021.
