The shortlist for the 2016 FreeFrom Food Awards – celebrating the best in gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free and all ‘freefrom’ foods – has been revealed.
From cashew cheeses to pea protein cooking mixes, gluten-free doughnuts to caveman granola, and sugar-free tomato ketchup to gluten-free and dairy-free ice cream cones, ‘freefrom’ manufacturers have been showing off their products at the judging sessions for this year’s awards.
After two weeks of tasting, the merits of gluten-free and dairy-free sausage rolls over raw spirulina nibs, the FreeFrom Food Awards judges have chosen nearly 260 products to shortlist.
Michelle Berriedale-Johnson, director of the FreeFrom Awards who chairs the judging sessions, said, ’Excitingly, the quality and originality of the entries continues to improve each year, which makes it ever more difficult for our 70 judges to choose the winners. But, after some intense discussions, they have!'
