PlayBox leisure concept to arrive at Boxpark Croydon after Wembley success

Following its success in Wembley, Boxpark is bringing its signature PlayBox leisure concept to Croydon this winter alongside the second outlet of National Burger Award Finalist Nanny Bill’s and smoked BBQ meat restaurant HotBox.

PlayBox was a new addition to the Boxpark concept when its Wembley site opened in December 2018, featuring UV pool tables, table tennis, shuffleboard, glow-pong and air hockey amid a neon backdrop complete with a fully functioning bar.

The new space at Croydon launching in early 2023 will be the biggest PlayBox to date, spanning over 3,000 sq ft and will feature state of the art competitive socialising and immersive gaming alongside family friendly classics in the signature neon theme.

The PlayBox space at Boxpark Croydon will also be home to a new Nanny Bill’s outlet as BOXPARK helps to propel the brand’s expansion across London. Having started life as a vintage food truck, Nanny Bill’s opened its first bricks and mortar space at Boxpark Wembley.

Serving its signature hand pressed burgers and mac and cheese croquettes, Nanny Bill’s will join Boxpark Croydon’s wider base of independent traders, alongside HotBox.

With two existing sites in Fulham and Victoria, HotBox started as a thriving street food business and has since grown into a full-fledged restaurant, offering succulently flavoured smoky meats and burgers. HotBox is opening its third outlet at Boxpark Croydon this Winter and will be situated alongside Nanny Bill’s and the PlayBox space on the first floor.

BoxPark CEO Simon Champion commented, “The events we run across our various Boxpark locations continue to perform really well and demonstrate the continued appetite among our customers for experiential.

'Our PlayBox concept has been a roaring success in Wembley and we can’t wait to launch PlayBox to Croydon to add a complementary element to our existing programming. We’re equally delighted to support the success and growth of Nanny Bill’s and look forward to welcoming them to Croydon as we prepare for the World Cup.”

HotBox and Nanny Bill’s are set to open at Boxpark Croydon in December whilst PlayBox will launch in early 2023. All can be found on the first floor unit, formerly occupied by MeatLiquor who exited this Autumn.

After six years of trading at Boxpark Croydon as one of the site’s earliest restaurants, MeatLiquor has ended their tenancy agreement as per their break clause to explore other avenues.
