The De Vere Group has announced it has acquired a site in Portsmouth and is now looking at further sites as part of its expansion plans its Village Urban Resorts brand. The new Portsmouth site becomes the first new hotel under its Village Urban Resorts concept since relaunching the brand earlier this year.
The group, which includes De Vere Hotels and De Vere Village Urban Resorts has secured a 3.1 acre site in the Lakeside North Harbour Development in the Western Road area of Portsmouth. The new build site is expected to open in the second quarter of 2014.
The De Vere Group is then currently in negotiations for further sites located in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Milton Keynes.
The plan to then open six to eight new hotels over the next three years continues, with the following cities being targeted- Oxford, Cambridge, Brighton, Bristol, Durham and Plymouth.
There are currently 25 hotels under the Village Urban Resorts brand.
