Asda has revealed plans to invest £10 million in a makeover program to update more than 180 of its in-store cafes, in collaboration with One Retail.
These cafes are operated by One Retail, a division of Compass Group UK & Ireland.
Renovations are set to start next month and are anticipated to be completed by the end of October.
Each cafe will introduce digital ordering screens and a table ordering service, along with a fresh, more relaxed coffee shop design.
Andrew Jones, managing director at One Retail, said: “It’s great to continue our longstanding partnership with Asda, expanding to work across more stores and enhancing the offer with a significant rebrand and investment.
“The upgrade programme is set to introduce new technology, menu innovations and a new look and feel within the cafés. We look forward to getting started and our continued work together to serve the Asda customer.”
New menus will feature dishes like smashed avocado on toast, katsu chicken curry, topped salad bowls, wraps, and a new sharing range.
Classic favourites such as the English breakfast, fish and chips, lasagne, and pizzas will remain available, along with Asda’s popular ‘Kids Eat for £1’ offers.
Asda’s vice president of commercial food, Ian McEvans, said: “Cafés are an important part of the shopping experience for many of our customers, and this significant investment allows us to bring a new look and feel, as well making improvements to the service and a refresh of the menu.
“We have continued to demonstrate our commitment to our cafés over the years with popular deals like the Winter Warmer and Kids Eat for £1 meal deals, and this investment marks another exciting milestone moment for us on our journey and underpins our continued commitment to ensuring Asda is set up for long term success at the heart of communities.”
