New head chef & menu for Northbank

This September, Northbank is to present its new high-end, brasserie-style menu from recently appointed head chef, Michael McDaid. The newly decorated bar will also reopen at this time, offering a wide range of wines, cocktails and spirits, many with Cornish provenance.

Located on the banks of the Thames and just a stone’s throw from Tate Modern and St Paul’s Cathedral, the restaurant delivers modern British food with a Cornish twist, and it continues in that vein with its latest creative offerings.

Starting his career at Galvin at Windows, McDaid has worked in the industry for more than 14 years at renowned restaurants, including Maze and New York’s The Spotted Pig.

Passionate about sourcing the best seasonal ingredients that Britain’s top suppliers have to offer, McDaid has used his wealth of experience gained here and in the United States to ensure that the restaurant’s menu will be a true talking point for local and visiting foodies.

Dishes will include Northbank classics, a carefully curated shellfish section and Cornish-inspired specials, plus different daily starters and mains, indulgent desserts and an Express Menu for those quick business lunches and pre-theatre dinners.

The redecorated bar will offer a carefully selected wine list, West Country ciders and real ales, quirky Cornish gins and expertly mixed original and classic cocktails, including the signature rum-based Poldark Punch!

For events, there’s the glass-fronted riverside restaurant boasting views of the Shard, Shakespeare’s Globe and Tate Modern, an intimate semi-private dining room, the newly decorated bar area and a leafy, secluded terrace.
