Free-of-tie Bristol pub comes to market

The Lansdown, a landmark free-of-tie pub in the affluent district of Clifton, Bristol, has been brought to market via Christie & Co.

The iconic Bristol pub comes with a strong local reputation, which is centred firmly on and within its community.

Beyond the main bar and eating area, there is a large, highly versatile function room with its own bar, which is utilised for live music, small theatre events, film nights, exhibitions, private dining, seminars and parties.

The pub benefits from a two-level flat which is included in the sale. It comprises three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen diner and sitting room, which provides generous accommodation for the operator.

Outside there is a raised sun trap terrace and more impressively, a large attractive walled garden which is covered and heated during the winter months. This also features a three-metre screen, making the venue hugely popular for major live sporting events.

After over 15 very successful years at The Lansdown, owners Amanda and Charles Yaxley have decided to retire from the pub and pursue new interests. Charles Yaxley commented, “We’ve enjoyed every minute of building up and running the business, however we feel it’s time for us to pursue new challenges and for a new operator to take the business to the next level.”

Graeme Clifford, Business Agent at Christie & Co is handling the sale and said, “I’m delighted to be working with Amanda and Charles, who have created a fabulous pub and business during their time at The Lansdown.

'Successful pubs in such a desirable location very rarely come to the market and we expect to receive a lot of interest in this lease sale, especially as it is free of tie and has such a strong trading base.”
